Healthy Gators Coalition

Healthy Gators is a coalition of representatives from many University of Florida departments and organizations who work together to identify key health issues and trends at UF.

Healthy Gators is a coalition of representatives from many University of Florida departments and organizations who work together to identify key health issues and trends at UF. Former UF First Lady Chris Machen chaired the coalition from its beginning in 2004 until 2014. Dr. Elaine Turner, Dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, and Dr. Maureen Miller, Director of GatorWell Health Promotion Services currently co-chair the group.

Healthy Gators promotes a campus environment supportive of the development and maintenance of a healthy body, mind and spirit for all members of the University of Florida community.

Healthy Gators partners with the Office of Sustainability every year in the spring to host the Champions for Change Awards. The awards recognize UF and UF Health faculty, staff and students for achievements in sustainability and health and well-being. Nominations open in January and recipients are announced at the annual Earth Day Ceremony in April.
