UF Emergency Room Policy for Alcohol Poisoning or Injuries

If you suspect alcohol poisoning or have concern about an alcohol related injury, it is important to seek immediate medical care. Some students may be hesitant to seek medical attention for fear that police may be contacted. If you are unsure if someone needs medical attention, it is crucial to be safe. Read the full policy.

Florida Coalition for Alcohol Policy
The Florida Coalition for Alcohol Policy's mission is to support the development and implementation of preventative alcohol policies at the state and local levels, educate stakeholders and decision makers on the efficacy of policy proposals, and promote citizen advocacy efforts to advance effective public policy.

Collaborative Efforts

21st Birthday Program
Is someone you know turning 21? University of Florida students turning 21 will receive an e-mail from the Dean of Students within one week of their 21st Birthday encouraging safe and responsible celebration of their 21st birthday.

Designated Driver Program
UF in collaboration with local bars and restaurants developed this program in order to help UF students make responsible choices about drinking. Business cards were developed for the designated driver to show at participating establishments and receive free sodas throughout the evening. You can pick up a card in one of the GatorWell offices, or download one to print out.

Participating establishments should display a Designated Driver Program poster bearing the DDP logo. If your favorite restaurant or bar is not on the list, please encourage the manager/owner to join.

Gator Nights
Free late night activities at the Reitz Union on Friday nights. Sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs.

Later Gator service lets you ride safely at night Thursday through Saturday evenings!

Party Patrol
Gainesville Police Department has created a "Party Patrol" to help educate citizens and enforce alcohol related laws.

Stuff to Do
Funded by the Office of the Provost and the Division of Student Affairs, this program was created to help increase sense of the UF community, increase awareness of events held at UF, and provide more accurate information to make informed choices about healthy activities that students can participate in across campus.
